An early start was required, but as the group made their way to London Heathrow in the small hours, there was no mistaking the sense of excitement. Passports at the ready and bags checked in, the journey to Prague was officially underway.
Less than 2 hours later, we touched down in Prague. The coach transfer was filled with exhilaration for the weekend ahead. Our base for the next three nights was the Hotel Pulse8, perfectly positioned for exploring one of Europe’s most beautiful capitals.
After checking in, the rest of the day was free to begin discovering Prague. From historic streets and striking architecture to riverside walks and welcoming cafes, the city immediately lived up to its reputation. With comfort and convenience in mind, the hotel provided a relaxed setting to unwind later that evening, whether over dinner, drinks, or simply recharging after an early start.
Saturday offered a full day to explore at leisure. Following breakfast, guests set off in different directions to experience Prague in their own way. Known as the ‘City of a Hundred Spires,’ the Czech capital dazzles with its medieval charm, grand squares, and classical heritage. Some immersed themselves in its rich cultural history, while others embraced the city’s famously friendly hospitality and its excellent beer in traditional coffee houses and restaurants.
The day concluded with a true highlight. That evening, the group gathered for a memorable dinner experience at U Pavouka, a medieval tavern tucked away in Prague's Old Town. Traditional Czech entertainment accompanied a five-course banquet, with wine and beer flowing freely. It was lovely, atmospheric, and brought everyone together, and added a unique cultural twist to the weekend.
Sunday was racing day, and one of the most famous in the European calendar. Departure for the Pardubice racecourse began. The journey passed quickly as anticipation built for the Velka Pardubicka, a race steeped in history and regarded as one of the toughest steeplechases in the world.
Arriving at the course, guests enjoyed hospitality in Grandstand B, offering seating along the main straight, an all-day buffet, and a complimentary bar. With seven races on the card, the atmosphere steadily built toward the main event, creating a thrilling backdrop for a full afternoon of racing. The Velka Pardubicka itself delivered excitement and spectacle in equal measure, an unforgettable experience even for seasoned racing fans.
Following the final race, there was an opportunity to walk the course, offering a fascinating insight into the challenges faced by both horse and rider.

Monday morning marked the final chapter of the trip. Before departing, there was time for a last wander through the city. A weekend that combined world-class racing, rich culture, and memorable shared experiences.
