Winter city breaks have a charm all of their own, and Vienna in late November delivers it in abundance. As guests made their way to London Heathrow, the anticipation of a festive European escape was already in the air.

Into the heart of Austria, we touched down in Vienna, ready for a magical couple of days. The perfectly located 25Hours Hotel allowed easy access for exploring the city’s historic centre.

After check-in, the afternoon was free to begin soaking up Vienna’s atmosphere. With the Opera House, Spanish Riding School and famous Christmas markets all within walking distance, the city immediately revealed its elegance and festive spirit. As evening fell, the group gathered for welcome drinks, the perfect opportunity to reconnect, meet fellow travellers and toast the weekend ahead.

Saturday was devoted entirely to enjoying Vienna at leisure. After a relaxed breakfast, guests headed off to explore in their own way. Some wandered through the beautifully decorated Christmas markets, mulled wine in hand, while others opted for horse-drawn carriage rides through the historic streets and guided walking tours that brought the city’s imperial past to life. From grand architecture to boutique shopping and cosy cafes, Vienna offered something for everyone. The evening was left to dine, explore, or simply relax back at the hotel.

Sunday delivered the undisputed highlight of the trip. After breakfast, the group strolled down to the world-famous Spanish Riding School. Taking our seats for the morning performance, we watched in awe as the magnificent Lipizzaner horses performed with grace, precision and tradition in the historic hall, a truly unforgettable experience.

Following the performance, the experiences went even further with a private guided tour of the stables and tack room, offering a fascinating behind-the-scenes insight into the centuries-old institution. A meet-and-greet with one of the riders added a personal touch, bringing the history and dedication of the Spanish Riding School vividly to life.

The afternoon and evening were free, allowing time to revisit favourite spots, enjoy a leisurely lunch, or simply wander the city as it glowed under festive lights.

Monday arrived all too quickly, but before departing, guests experienced the last of Vienna.

A weekend filled with culture, tradition and festive charm, Vienna at its finest.
