Dai Walters gets a one two in the Dragonbet Welsh Champion Hurdle
The last Welsh Champion Hurdle to be run at Ffos Las was convincingly won by Lump Sum Owned by the previous owner of Ffos Las, Dai Walters, He also had a superb one two with another very well fancied house Steel Ally finishing second in a very exciting race.
After selling the course to Arena Racing in 2018 , the Walters Group have continued to be one of the racecourses biggest supporters, and this result in particular was very well received by the local racing public in South Wales, Trainer Sam Thomas was full of praise for Lump Sum’s jockey Dylan Johnson and Sam Twiston-Davies who rode Steel Ally.
Despite this race now moving to Chepstow in 2025 , after being based for 14 years in West Wales, this historic race which has been run since 1969 is going to be replaced with another large value race at Ffos Las in 2025
