An early start awaited the group as they arrived at London Heathrow, the quiet morning air filled with anticipation for the journey ahead. Passports checked and luggage dropped, excitement began to build as we prepared to depart for Switzerland. The flight to Zurich was smooth and comfortable, offering the perfect start to what promised to be an unforgettable winter escape.
Upon landing in Zurich, a coach transfer carried the group through the spectacular Swiss landscape toward the Alps. Snow-capped peaks and picturesque villages provided a stunning introduction to the region before we reached Chur, where one of the journey’s highlights awaited. From here, guests boarded the famous Glacier Express for a magnificent train journey to St. Moritz. Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage route, the railway winds through dramatic alpine scenery, crossing soaring viaducts and climbing through mountain valleys. It was a truly memorable way to arrive in one of the world’s most glamorous winter destinations.
On arrival in St Moritz, transfers were provided to the hotel, where guests settled into their comfortable rooms for the duration of the stay. With the formalities complete, the remainder of the evening was free to relax, with an option to join the hosts at the outdoor Roo Bar for a welcome drink. Music, snow, and chatter filled the air as guests mingled before either enjoying dinner in town, strolling through the elegant streets, or simply unwinding after a travel day. It was the perfect introduction to St Moritz.
Friday began with a relaxed breakfast before a full day of leisure. St Moritz offers an incredible variety of winter activities, and guests were free to enjoy the destination in whichever way suited them best. Our experience Venatour Hosts organised a trip to The Cresta Run to watch the skeleton competition commence. For those seeking adventure, skiing was arranged, offering the chance to experience the resort’s famous slopes.
That evening, the group came together for a warm and welcoming dinner at a local Hot Rocks restaurant. The relaxed setting, with live music, provided a wonderful opportunity for everyone to share their first impressions of St Moritz. It was the perfect way to round off a day of exploration in the heart of the Swiss Alps.
Saturday began once again with breakfast before another special experience awaited. Guests were invited on a stable visit, offering a unique behind-the-scenes insight into the world of racing in St Moritz. There was an opportunity to watch the horses at work on the frozen lake, a truly remarkable sight. The visit continued with a tour of the newly renovated stables, where guests could meet the horses up close and learn more about their preparations for the famous White Turf races. The visit finished off with champagne, orange juice, and fresh croissants.
The rest of the day was left open to enjoy St Moritz at leisure. Many chose to join the Venatour hosts tobogganing. Before it began, you experienced a beautiful train ride to collect your sleds before heading up to the tracks. A truly hilarious, competitive, thrilling experience, allowing you to sled as many times as you desire. Once snowed out, guests got a drink at an ice bar after dropping their sleds off at a lovely, quaint village. Other guests returned to the slopes for more skiing, while some simply took the opportunity to explore the town’s boutiques, cafés, or enjoyed a horse and carriage ride through the forests. The evening was free once more, allowing guests to dine wherever they wished and enjoy the resort’s vibrant atmosphere.
Sunday was the highlight of the trip and the reason many visitors travel from around the world to St Moritz, the spectacular White Turf Festival. After breakfast, guests made their way to the frozen lake for a day of thrilling racing set against a dramatic backdrop of the surrounding mountains.
With official race day tickets included and upgrades available, guests enjoyed the electric atmosphere of this truly unique sporting event.
