Some of our members enjoyed a trip to Urloxhey Stables, the home of Dr Richard Newland & Jamie Insole's Jumps Yard, before our race day on the 22nd April. Watching four lots head up the gallops that has trained Grand National winners was a surreal feeling and being up close gave a real impression as to the work it takes to get a horse fit and ready. It was fantastic to see how the horses prepare for the track and we must say thank you to Dan Abraham who looked after us all so well.

On the track, it was a memorable night for Isabel Williams who rode out her claim on aboard Pooroldmackley. Isabel has had a 50% winning strike rate this season at Hereford! The pair settled in the rear after a strong early pace but as they appeared in the back straight, Williams took her mount closer to the pace and it was soon over. Elsewhere on the card, the Bowen's struck with A Definite Getaway who battled on determinedly to defy Climbing and Gavin Sheehan. Race To Base rounded off a great evening of racing by winning the bumper for the Twiston-Davies's who look to have a smart horse on their hands.
