Our final Summer Sounds of the season was truly one to remember! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday for a fantastic day filled with thrilling racing, great music and unbeatable summer vibes. The atmosphere around the course was electric from start to finish, and it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces enjoying the day together.

Congratulations to all the winning connections on what was a brilliant afternoon of sport — a fitting finale to our summer racing series.

La Mer Grise, affectionately known as Gracie, has embarked on a new career beyond the racetrack after capturing the hearts of many during her time with the Lingfield Park Owners Group (LPOG).

Brought as a yearling from the Tattersalls Yearling Sales in 2023, La Mer Grise quickly became a favourite at Tony Carroll’s yard, admired for her kind temperament and easy nature. She represented LPOG with genuine effort and determination on the track, including runs at her home course, Lingfield Park.

Despite her honest performances, suitable race opportunities became limited, and the decision was made to retire her early. It was a choice taken with her future in mind, with confidence that she had an exciting career ahead in another discipline.

Earlier this year, Gracie was rehomed to Lisa, an experienced competitor in the showing world, who has been delighted with how quickly the filly has adapted to life after racing.

“I’d seen so many videos and photos of ROR horses online, and I knew I wanted to give a racehorse a second chance,” Lisa explained. “I expected a highly-strung ex-racer, but Gracie settled straight away. Just ten days out of racing, she looked every inch the athlete. With the right care, she’s already transforming into a beautiful riding horse.”

And earlier in August, it was fantastic to see some of our members at George Baker’s Yard for an exclusive morning on the gallops at his Downs House stables. Watching the horses work against the stunning backdrop of Epsom was fantastic and his assistant trainer, Barry Murphy, was on hand to give everybody a helping hand in finding a few horses to follow for the winter and exciting types for next season.
